The auditorium of Paryatan Bhawan, Lucknow witnessed a unique kind of energy and vibrance when the grandeur of its ambience got mixed with the flavor of commitment, selfless dedication and voluntarism on Monday the 23rd of August 2011. A good number of impressively dressed up youngsters fully charged to take up the responsibilities of the conduct of the event, a galaxy of dignitaries including intellectuals, activists and professionals from various walks of life, young management students and common citizens of the city filled almost all the seats of the hall, on the occasion of SN Tripathi Memorial Lectures, 2011 on 'Climate Change, Waste Recycling & Green Energy'.
Inauguration The dais for inaugural session was graced by Shri Chandi Prasad Bhatt, Padam Bhushan, PadamShri & Magasaysay recipient as Chief Guest, Dr Vikram Singh, Vice Chancellor, NOIDA International University & former Director General of Police, Govt of UP as the 'Guest of Honour', Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, GOI, New Delhi as key-note speaker & Shri V N Garg, Infrastructure & IndustrialDevelopment & Commissioner, GOUP, on behalf of Lucknow Management Association. The inaugural session started with the welcome of the dignitaries through presentation of bouquets. The event was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries on the dais. Dr Shlkha Trlpathl on behalf of Swayam Siddha, welcomed the Inaugural speakers and the audience and shared before them an overview of the event. She briefly shared about the ethos, values, purpose and also the agenda of the event. Dr AJay Mathur, the key-note speaker highlighted the connection between climate change and energy. He emphasized on the need to enhance energy supply and also using it efficiently. By way of illustrations he elaborated on various aspects of energy efficiency including the cost factor and also our attitude, that works behind how we use energy. Dr Vikram Singh, the Guest of Honour of the inaugural event, presented before the audience in a lively manner, a picture of the state of our environment, urgency of the issue and also the ways to mitigate the hazards. Shri VN Garg, welcomed Shri Chandi Prasad Bhatt, the chief guest on behalf of LMA and also the state of Uttar Pradesh.He talked in brief about the urgency of the issue of Climate change crisis that needs to be understood and acted upon. He also suggested ways that can be adopted to cope with the crisis. Shri Chandi Prasad Bhatt, the Chief Guest in his inaugural speech elaborated in a most interesting manner on the Himalayan Ecological System and its vulnerability to disasters through the bewitching slides of Himalayas, its people, culture and its disaster prone status. He also emphasized on community participation, consultation and their solutions to protect their ecosystem.
